What is EAC's player channeled through? Is it the Windows Stereo mixer? The reason why I am asking is because it sounds so loud and powerfull. When I lestion to music files off of Winamp(with no replay gain or normalized files) through the Directsound output plug in -with the same windows volume settings - the sound is alot softer and weaker. Why is this? I love useing Winamp(not going to change) and would like to have that same sound that EAC puts out in Winamp.

Turn up winamp's volume

Seriously, that should be all. Louder sounds better to almost everybody.

If you have your drive connected to soundcard via a cable, and you have "Use alternate CD play routines" disabled in EAC, then audio gets read by the drive in "CDDA mode" and it goes staright to the soundcard and then straight to the amp & speakers (bypassing all software).
If your drive is not connected to soundcard, and you have "Use alternate CD play routines" enabled in EAC, then audio gets extracted in "data mode" by EAC, gets processed by Windows mixer and stuff, and then goes to soundcard & amp & speakers.
I assume you're talking about playing CDDA, not MP3 or something.

rutra80: Huh? Shouldn't "CDDA" and "data' mode be the same? I don't know much about EAC, but that looks weird.
darin: If you're not using an ancient version of Winamp, both Winamp and EAC should be using CDDA to extract audio, AFAIK. There shouldn't be significant differences.

edit: If rutra80 had meant "analog transfer of CDDA" by "CDDA," then it would be a matter of volume like Patsoe said.
Naw... I meant when playing Wave files off my Hard drive with EAC(when useing the process wave function). Yeah...there is a big difference. I don't use Winamps EQ ethier or any DSP plug in...so the comparison is apples to apples. Any ideas?

Volume differences between wavOut and DirectSound? /me shrugs. If you make the volume the same, there shouldn't be any significant differences.

I remember that with my Sound Blaster PCI 128. Trying to get the volumes in both modes matched resulted in horrible distortion. Didn't happen with the same card in XP.
