Could you post an example batch? I rip to flac tracks with cuesheet and want to convert those to mp3's. A batch file would be perfect for me. Will it transfer the tags? Thanks for any help.

My batch files don't preserve tags. The guy who's a guru at this stuff is Synthetic Soul. Check this post. You might want to send him a PM.

You also mentioned cuesheets. Are your flacs separate tracks or are they disc images? I'm trying to understand how a cuesheet is helpful in this situation if you're using separate tracks that already have tag information.

I use this....but they haven't updated their LAME version for a while, it's 3.96.1 so they're prolly waiting for a non-beta release smile.gif Very useful software and I'm happy to pay the small amount they ask. It also retains all your tags including replaygain information. I tell it to use ID3v1 and ID3v2 and you can give it all the usual LAME stuff smile.gif

Well I'm actually playing around with AutoFlac. The cuesheet with the flac tracks can actually burn an exact copy like a cuesheet with a disc image (as I believe and I've actually tried ripping and burning a cd with alot of pregaps and it seemed to play like the original disc). Correct me if I'm wrong. It can burn the cuesheet and flac tracks using EAC to burn it.

If I'm misinformed, please correct me.

Sure, this is correct, though I think you need to decompress those flac files first if you're using EAC. wink.gif

I still don't understand what a CUE sheet has got to do with converting your flac files to mp3 files while preserving the tag information. huh.gif

Covert FLAC to MP3 = ALL2LAME http://members.home.nl/w.speek/all2lame.htm
You also need the flac and mp3 codecs, download them from http://www.rarewares.org/

The cuesheet doesn't, I just stated I have the flac tracks and the cuesheet. I was thinking in line with using acdir, but that is just for a cuesheet with a single image file right? I cannot use acdir on a cuesheet based on tracks can I?

I'm not sure about acdir, though it doesn't appear that it was designed to be used with separate tracks. I need to apologize for earlier, I thought you were the original poster.

No worries. I'm not very good at explaining things very clearly. Thanks for your help. I messeged Synthetic Soul and will see what he says. If I find a way, I'll post it here.

You're welcome.

Did the link I provided earlier not work?

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....mp;#entry358740

It isn't a batch file per se, but it does show you the command lines needed to create mp3s from flacs and copy their tags over, though I haven't tried it.

The regular mp3 encoder uses lame_enc.dll, so you can replace it an use any version you want. Or better yet, use the generic CLI plugin and use lame.exe
