Search for this users posts, and scroll down to the second "Plugin Album List is erroneous" post, and scroll to the end of that post.

In firefox some garbage is inserted at the end of the post - and the subsequent posts are not displayed.

In IE7 its rendered wierd but some subsequent posts are there.

There are only three posts in that thread, I don't see anything wrong.

EDIT: I'm on Firefox.

musicmusic talks about reviewing search results for "Find user's posts", and there's definitely a problem.

Okay, I see it now. Weird.

As a moderator I see something different. Subsequent posts are not corrupted for me, and I see no garbled code. However I do see part of a mod control following the smilie at the end of his post.

I've looked at his post and there's nothing strange about the text.

One for an admin to check I guess.

Additional info: If I click on the "Post Preview" link it actually takes me to this post, which is not visible in the list (it should be this post). It seems the two posts are being merged in the results listing somehow. This statement comes from also seeing in IE 6 that both posts are displayed beside each other.

More weirdness: In a search of my own posts, on page 1 (of 23), older posts become embeded in the July 10th (re: "Tau Analyzer Version 1.2 (freeware)") post's message area. Browser = Firefox

IE6:

Opera9:

No garbage in both browsers and subsequent posts are there, in Opera there's just a little margin on the right, which in IE shows as some text-box.

P.S.: How do we post images as thumbnails (just as skelly831 did)?

Well yes but I only said firefox puts garbage in it (not really garbage but there you go) and misses the rest of the posts. Not exactly browser wars anyway, the XHTML code is broken. But I'll add a screenshot of firefox when browsing as a guest for completeness.

Looking at the html the fault seems obvious:
CODE
            <td class="post1" width="100%"><div class="postcolor" style='height:200px;overflow:auto'>took me a lifetime to circle this problem but finally i have got the suspect: whenever i add the tab Album list to my (ui_columns-)interface, i get the following errors...<br /><!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--><br />ERROR (foo_matroska) : Matroska: unable to find a "A_AC3" packet decoder object.<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_input_std) : referenced file doesn't exist<br />ERROR (foo_matroska) : Matroska: unable to find a "A_AC3" packet decoder object.<br /><!--c2--></div><!--ec2--><br />i figure there are some broken files in one of the directories it parses but it's very annoying having that console pop up every time i start foobar and the errors are so general i don't even know which files are broken. what i'm not going to do is check my whole collection for broken files. so is there anything to alleviate this problem? clearly, i am outwitted...<br />maybe album list could be altered to the point that it spits out which files are actually broken (at which point the input-plugins spat out the error)? i mean it's really only an annoyance since the generated list is working, as far as i can tell complete and everything, only the error really bugs me. <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/default/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--en...</div></td>

At the end I think it should probably rather be
CODE
<!--endemo-->...
instead of
CODE
<!--en...

Now why the forum software messes up is another question.

I think it's because of HTML comments. <!-- --> is the correct way to use HTML comments, and you can get problems if the comments are not balanced.

http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/wilbur/misc/comment.html

Firefox supports HTML comments properly, so it chokes on <!--- --->. Something similar is probably happening.

@Synthetic : I think we found the problem. Could you speak of this to Garf?
Jan S.
Is it fixed now? I edited the post without changing anything (forced re-rendering). I think the problem was with the smiley.
Synthetic Soul
zyrill's results look fine to me now, but the problem is still there for Cosmo's:

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....sult_type=posts

Offending code:

MPEG with probability 95%<!--c2--></div><!--ec...</div></td>

hmm... this seems to be caused by the "post viewer" cutting the text in just "the right places" to make the comments never end (or end to late). Apparently the text size limit is made on the code and not the output...
