Neither foobar2000 0.8.x nor Winamp (5.11 installed on my system right now) can read the ID3v2 tags I have written to MP3's with foobar2000 0.9.2.

That does not mean ID3v2 tagging is broken in any of the mentioned applications. It just means neither foo_id3v2 for foobar2000 0.8x nor Winamp support ID3v2.4 tags, which is the only version of ID3v2 that foobar2000 0.9 writes.

Then, I want the choice to write i3v2.3.

not possible in foobar2000 0.9.x
also, please not that the ID3v2.4 standard is very old and for some reason, a LOT of programs do not support it.

A lot of programs don't support 2.4 because 2.3 is perfectly adequate - and it's almost a miracle that so much software supports id3v2 at all.

So.
To get tags that are readable by by Creative Zen Micro, I have to keep using foobar2000 0.8.3. For everything else I obviously want to use 0.9.2.
foobar devs:
Thank you for forcing me to keep two versions of your software installed at the same time, you assholes.
