Listening to Broken Social Scene's 2005 album Broken Social Scene, I thought that it was a great album with terrible mastering. It sounds like all of the music is jammed into a tiny sliver of the sonic spectrum... I also hear that the album was mastered entirely on a computer... does anyone else feel this way about the album? It's too bad too that the mastering is so bad, because otherwise it's a grand great album...

i haven't heard about this group but maybe a sample and see if there's a mastering credit. in some way this is old news, most music these days is recorded like shit.

I like the album, too. I can see what you mean, but for me it's kind of hard to distinguish it from BSS doing it on purpose as part of their "indie" sound.

yes, I think it sounds really bad too, clipping everywhere. You can contrast it with their first album Feel Good Lost which has much better dynamics.
