Full Version: Silent PC HOWTO

I finally managed to silence my computer to an acceptable noise level. I will describe this level as "silent, but not dead silent". One has to concentrate to determine whether the computer is on or not. The noise of my own breathing is way louder. Even if I concentrate, I cannot hear the computer when standing 6 meters away.

I made a seperate web page, as there are several large images.

Unfortunately I do not own a digital camera, so no shots of my own PC. Maybe I can borrow one next week

I wish computers would just come quite so i didn't have to do all this work. sad.gif i hope one day computers wont need all this tweaking, all this specific hardware specs, all this constant upgrading and changing, all this trouble. smile.gif It will be a glorious day when you can just buy a computer and use it smile.gif Apple has the right idea and is getting closer and closer to accomplishing this. Sony is the only major PC provider who seems to have it in them to do the same.

Ahhh, whatever. Just ignore me.

I liked this one:

"Be careful not to blow out more air than you can suck in. The blowing fans will make a ugly noises."

Think about it... blowing out more air than can be sucked in is a violation of physics and will cause the computer to implode into a ball of metal tongue.gif

Cheers,

P.S. yeah I know what he meant.. heheheh....

It is time dependent. You can for a short time blow more air out than you suck in without the computer imploding.

Then the blowing fan(s) has to fight the high pressure outside, which will reduce air flow, create turbulence and noise.
