Hello to everyone I'm quite new into EAC + Lossless codecs,so i need guidance and a piece of advice from more experienced users. To begin with I' ve got a question regarding NERO Image.Recently i've discovered daemon tools so creating an imagedrive i can rip any cd creating an image with NERO and afterwards with the appropriate adjustments on EAC i can directly rip the image.Fair enough and so far so good But how accurate is NERO in creating images Is Nero able to provide an identical copy ? What are the correct settings in order to get one? Any alternatives proposed ?

good question. i'm interested in this also, as your described method is the best i've found for ripping "content protected" discs (http://www.emimusic.info/au_EN/cds300.html).

No, ripping with Nero and then EAC makes no sense. You have to rip with EAC directly if you want a perfect copy.

As far as alternatives go, there is CDex with paranoia, dbPowerAmp with Accurate rip, or foobar2000 with secure ripping.

Daemon Tools will accept EAC-created images & cuesheets so why bother ripping with Nero in buffered burst mode at the highest speed?

So ... to sum it up ... a Nero image is as accurate as your drive can deliver at the chosen read speed. The accuracy may vary between 0 and 100%.

Well Recently Ive tried accurate rip in association with EAC which is pretty ok but most of the cds i'm interested in are not listed in their database .Now concerning dbpower amp which i haven't tried is this utility able to provide identical images and which version do you propose ? And then foobar is it possible for you to give me a hand concerning the right settings ? Finishing my reply ( a big one i might say!Sorry about that !!).Recently igot my hands on some files looking like this: CD Image.ape & CD Image.cue .How do i handle those files in order to get their content ?+ when i have a .cue file splitting it for the first time it gives me the correct file size the rest of the times i'm splitting it it gives me something different concerning the file size thanx and sorry again about my big reply !

1. Start EAC (assuming it is properly configured)

2. Get CD info (FreeDB/CD Text etc.)

3. Hit Alt+F7 ... EAC will first detect the pre-track gaps, then ISRC/UPC and will then ask where to save the image & cue (if user-defined location is selected) or will start ripping to the pre-defined location.

4. Wait

5. Mount *.cue in DaemonTools

Thanx alot about the hand much appreciated! A very handy tip! There's another thing troubling me though.I've tried the same technique handling files such as cd image.ape or cd image.flac but i can't mount them on the image drive that daemon tools provide.I get a message like:''incompatible wave file'' or ''unable to mount drive''. Any suggestions ? headbang.gif

Daemon Tools does not handle compressed formats like ape (monkey's audio) or flac. Has been on a request list for years but the developers and most users don't find it interesting...
If you need to mount them as CDs than you'll have to decode them to wav first. Otherwise you can use foobar2000 for playback, it understands cue sheets with compressed formats.
