Guys, can someone please help me out with something ?

I am running Foobar2000 v0.9.2
It appears there is a newer version available. If i download the newer version will i have to re-configure everything? and, will my plug ins still work on my new version?

thanks in advance.

You won't loose anything theorically.

But I would still backup your foobar directory to be safe.

Well, I just went from 0.9.2 to 0.9.3.1 and lost all the configuration I had done - setup, lots of obscure formatting tweaks, the location of my music, the database (I now have to re-scan more than 40 gigs over USB 1.1... after I've figured out how to re-activate that option in the pull-down), and I don't know what else.

It was the labyrinthine configuration required that kept me from using Foobar for well over a year. I finally tried again a few months back and actually got it to a usable form. Since then I rarely use any other player, I like it at last. And now this...

I guess what caused it was deselecting "Enable per-user settings" in the installer, which I think was enabled when I did a clean install of 0.9.2 a while back.

Assuming my guess is correct, I think it would be good to have a warning about this in the installer's description, along with what to backup before upgrading.

Extra components are fine by the way.

Anyway, "Switch off your computer, it's not getting you anywhere!" springs to mind. I'll try to check this thread tomorrow.

Check Enable user profile support at Preferences | General and restart foobar2000.

This way all your previous settings should return.

Be sure to backup your %appdata%\foobar2000 directory first. %appdata% is a system variable that points to something like C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data.

Thank you! That worked, and I have added that Foobar2000 directory to my backup list.
