Full Version: converting with equalizer = artifact at beginning of song

i've been converting some lossless files (wavepack) to lossy and i noticed that on some of the converted songs, the last split second of the previous song (previous as in the song converted before it) has been added to the beginning. i did some fooling around with the converter and the only time this phenomenon happens is when i activate the EQ during the conversion process. it doesn't matter what format i convert to (at least, it doesn't matter if it's AAC or MP3) and it doesn't matter what settings i use on the EQ (including flat line). now usually songs end quietly or have a split second of silence at the very end, so i don't notice it, but for the songs that end loudly, the subsequently converted songs have a split second artifact.

can anyone duplicate this, or give an explanation, or better yet - a solution?

I think you need to check "Don't reset DSP between tracks (for crossfading between tracks etc)" in the converter's DSP settings.

I can't test it at the moment, but does it happen with other DSPs?

that doesn't make a difference

well, the only other DSPs i've tried are noise sharpening, advanced limiter and skip silence. the artifact only happens when i have the EQ active. it doesn't matter if it's the only DSP or if the other DSPs i mentioned are also active.
