hello everyone.
I'm new to this forum and to mp3 encoding (couldnt bother in the past)
but as i found out now there people trying to get decent sound out of mp3 it got me interested
aparently LAME is supposed to be the best mp3 coder and that alt presets are best to use with that.
did i get this right sofar?
so can you use alt presets also on the mac?
and if yes how?
thanx

I'm not a Macintosh user, so I don't try to use these tools myself.

Dude use the script from harashin's post. It's the best option I've found so far for automating use of the Lame encoder.
Your best bet is to download a lame binary and compile it yourself (make sure to download a stable version like 3.92). Instructions for compiling it are included with the aforementioned script, but it goes like this:
open up terminal and "cd" into the lame folder
then type:
./configure
then:
make
then:
sudo make install
and you're set.
I recommend --alt-preset standard
Thanx for the reply
i'm not using a mac myself at this moment but a lot of friends do i was just curious if they could use lame.

alt presets are definitely included because this script simply defers encoding to the command line so any and all lame command lines are valid and useable
