Did a search to look for answer, didn't find it.
I have some MP3s that were recorded in mono (not by me), that I need to convert to stereo WAV files to be able to burn to CD. This method worked, but may not be best: 1) Decoded from MP3 mono to WAV mono using LAME/all2lame. 2) Used Feurio to burn to WAV stereo, it converted the WAV file during the burning process, apparently it "doubled" the mono file to create two channels. But it left the WAV file on the hard drive as mono.
Any better ways you can suggest? Thanks.

If you don't need the WAV file in stereo, you already chose the best way

Starting with a mono file, you either duplicate the file into two channels to meet audio CD requirements (this requires absolutely no change to the audio; it remains completely mono) or you make a hokey "electronically simulated" stereo in any number of not particularly good ways. Since the first is very easy to do, Fuerio probably doesn't screw it up.

Thanks friends. What I would like to end up with is a stereo WAV. All2Lame decompresses to a mono WAV. Feurio burns it as stereo but leaves it as mono on the hard drive. Would like to have the stereo WAV on the hard drive. Andy - How would you create the duplicate for the second channel? I can't get Wave Repair to do it, it won't accept the mono channel. Nero does a mono MP3 to stereo WAV conversion but does something to the file, Feurio and EAC can't read it right.

While there may be some special application program that will do it, the ways I know involve an audio editor. With CoolEdit I can do it in a half dozen ways. It can almost certainly be accomplished with Audacity if you don't already have a better editor and are not inclined to spend money on one. WavePad is another freeware editor; I am not familiar with its facilities.
Why do you want a dual channel file on your hard drive? It will not sound different, it will take up twice as much storage space.
