I just purchased the RAZR V3m from Verizon, which has a music player. The catch is that it will only play .wma. I need to convert a subset of my mp3 library to wma (of course, without paying for the software to do so!). I can't find a way to do this with foobar2K. Is there a reputable, free application out there that will do what I want?

Windows Media Player doesn't even do this unless you spend $20 to download something called SuperPack.

Winamp can do this if you download the 5.25 beta version and the Winamp Transcoder.

For those of us who can't/won't do *.ppt, does this address transcoding in general, or theWinamp plugin specifically?

Thank you.

Transcoding in general. But the original poster doesn't have much of a choice if his phone wants WMA and all he has is MP3. Except to go buy the original album, maybe wink.gif

They say, don't transcode, and if you absolutely cannot avoid transcoding, use a very high bitrate for intermediate step(s). It is about transcoding in general

btw *,ppt can be viewed with OpenOffice also

too slow I am.... smile.gif

Will do. Thanks.

As I was playing around with my new toy, I discovered mp3s are automatically transcoded while synching. This is a nice feature, but requires my phone to be tethered to the PC for too long. Not to mention that I would like some control over the transcoding process.

I'm very aware of the risks inherent in transcoding, and I'm willing to accept the consequences. No way am I ripping my CD collection again for this. For music I've purchased online, I have no choice since my phone is only compatible with wma.

dBpowerAMP just be sure to install the wma codec for it. It doesn't get much easier.
