Full Version: OGG & Vorbis are not the same thing
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Hydrogenaudio Forum > Site Related Discussion
hellokeith
Ogg is a container format, and it can package many different types of audio (and video).

Vorbis is a lossy audio codec and does not necessarily need to be in an ogg container (could be in an AVI container, for example).

So my suggestion, would be a renaming or reorganization of the Lossless section. smile.gif

Vorbis files are mostly found in an Ogg container. It would be better to just call it Vorbis, it get's very tiresome when people just say OGG in capital letters. Just like if it's Theora in an Ogg container call it Ogg Theora wink.gif
