I have several files that foobar cannot play, but winamp and WM9 can. I really cannot understand why. Foobar wont even enqueue the file. I use the latest version of foobar 0.9.3.1 and i have a virgin installation.

this is a sample of a file (one from many) i have.

Can you help please?

Thank you

Problem is that this file is not an mp3 file (mpeg1 - layer 3) but it is mpeg2 - layer 2 (which is not mp2 !) which is afaik format for audio compresion used for multichanel sound on DVD or so, but foobar obviously can not decode it. You can convert them to another format, using dBpower AMP for example, and then play it in foobar.

Hi alfa156,

I can't play this file in foobar either. However when I scanned it w/ Mp3tag it indicates that the file is actually MPEG 2 Layer II, 24 kbps, 22050 Hz (it also has ID3v1, ID3v2.3, and APEv2 tags present). I tried both renaming the extension to .mp2 and wiping out the tags but neither of these worked.

This is the error message I get when trying to load the file into my foobar playlist:

CODE
could not enumerate tracks (Unsupported format or corrupted file) on:
C:\Documents and Settings\user117\My Documents\temp\CNS-specialsenses.mp2

The file does play quite fine in WMP for me also.
