You'll have to pardon me saying this, but DUH!

Economics is always a much more powerful motivator than security. Some people can be exceptions, but corporations at heart are entities that are out to turn a profit.

I always thought that, new tendencies at least, are searching for the total customer satisfaction (that in turn should mean more money).

This is a noble goal, but examples have shown that if a company is a large enough player in a small enough industry, total customer satisfaction is less of a priority because it really doesn't mean that much more money.
