Full Version: Send copies of songs in playlist to portable player (USB drive)

I was just wondering if there is a plugin available to send a copy of all the songs in a playlist to a external mp3 player that is connected as a USB drive? It would be useful because some small cheep mp3 players dont have any playlist management and just play the songs in the order in which you copy them to the player. So it would be cool if foobar could copy the songs in a playlist in the order that they are currently arranged in that playlist.

Is there currently anything like this around?

You can just use foobar's "move rename or copy files command) (now that it can save scripts, it's gonna be a helluva more useful).

First off, create this script:

1. Select the files to be copied
2. open the Move, rename of copy command
3. Select "Copy files" instead of rename, or the move parent directories option
4. Configure the script to include the list_index
5. select you mp3 player as the target

viola!

Thanks for the replies.

I cant seem to get the "sendtodevice" plugin to load. It gives me the "dll failed to load" message" when I start foobar. I'm using version 0.9.3.1, is that a problem?

Thanks kanak. I saw that but I cant make it process the files in the order that they appear in the playlist. It always wants to process the files in the same order even if I re-arrange them in the playlist. This is important to me because after I send the files to the player I no longer have any control over the order in which they are played, so I have to order them in foobar.

I'm not sure about point four : "4. Configure the script to include the list_index". Is this the key to making it copy the files in the same order in which they appear in the list? Could you give some more information on this step.

No, it works under the 0.9.x releases. You are probably missing the VS8 dll's that this plugin requires. I believe they are available from musicmusic's website at http://music.morbo.org/download/Microsoft.VC80.CRT.7z. You can decompress .7z files with 7-zip available at http://www.7-zip.org/

I think you should recommend ppl to install this with it you'll get a global VC8 runtime and less problem with any software that use VC8. If you need .NET2 then install .NET Framework 2.0 and you don't need to install the previous.
