Over the last couple of days MP3Tag -- a program that I really like -- has started causing my PC* to crash. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or can anyone recommend an alternative to MP3Tag?

Thanks and regards

Midas

www.foobar2000.org ? Tagging has become quite easy since the change of the properties dialog.

Since he's already using a free stand-alone app for tagging I'd recommend The Godfather: http://users.otenet.gr/~jtcliper/tgf/.

EDIT:Gramma.

I would recommend checking your hardware and drivers first.

True. Since MP3Tag is a stable and reliable application there seem to be major problems regarding your computer itself, Midas. Might be worth checking these out before the system completely refuses to boot someday. A simple, non-hardware-hungry application like MP3Tag shouldn't keep crashing a healthy system.

Before I found out about MP3Tag, I used Mp3 Tag Tools. Its functions aren't as nice as MP3Tag's, but it should be enough for general-purpose tagging.

In addition to Mp3tag I also use Mp3-Tag Studio. I must say both programs are very good, so if you don't resolve your problem with Mp3tag, Midas Mulligan, I'd recommend using Mp3-Tag Studio. And use the non-crippled version. The banners are just gif files loaded along with the program, no spyware, adware, etc. The only thing that is missing, compared to Mp3tag is lack of freedb support... AFAIK. wink.gif

Thanks for the input, folks.

I've recently installed Ccleaner, and I think that program may be connected to the crashes. It's interesting, though, that only MP3tag seems to cause the computer to crash. And when it crashes, I don't get the BSoD -- the machine just restarts.

All best

You can change the reboot on bsod behavior in the system control panel. With consumer OSs, MS defaults it to automatic reboot.
