Full Version: Name of forum and the hydrogen atom
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Misc. > Off-Topic

Earlier today I noticed while reading this academic paper on musical pitch and cochlear impants ...

http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/~jw/reprints/FearnThesis.pdf

... that it mentions that human hearing is sensitive enough that it is possible for some to detect a sound that only moves the eardrum a distance comparable to the width of a hydrogen atom.

I just wonder if the name of the forum happens to be related to this. Even if not, that's sort of cool, don't you think?

The eye is also sensitive enough to detect a single photon (in some crazy circumstances, IIRC).
