Does QT Pro add any new features/options to iTunes AAC encoding? If so, how can they be accessed? (new settings under Options?) Apple's site says this:
QUOTE
With QuickTime 7 Pro, you can create AAC audio files optimized for constant quality, instead of bit rate, for a consistently higher listening experience.
Did anybody find this worthwhile?

Sounds like an actual VBR implementation of iTunes AAC, instead of the "VBR" available to non-QTPro users (which is actually ABR).
I can see an interest in this, though there's already a free AAC Encoder (Nero Digital) that does quality-based VBR (and quite well I might add ).

Umm, the AAC encoder is the same for iTunes and QT, and the VBR modes are the same. QT Pro has some additional quality settings, but they shouldn't give much, if any, improvement for 16 bit material.

I've heard a lot about Nero's AAC codec lately. However I was looking for something that would work seamlessly with iTunes and possibly also on the Mac.

In that case, I believe buying QT would get you nothing at all.

It isn't worth it, there was a period when Quicktime 7 was out in Beta, which in a roundable way enabled creating quasi VBR AAC files. But That functionality has been in iTunes for ages.
I just use Foobar + iTunesEncode.exe to go from FLAC -> iTunes AAC
