nettiquette. Always type your messages without Caps-Lock. Reread them, and make sure your question is clear. Also, in this case, you would have been better off asking for advice before stating that MP3s are crap. It may also be due to the way your car radio plays back the said mp3s -- chances are, it's what you bought, that's crap, not the 15 year old technology developped by hundreds of competent developpers.

Supplementarily, most music stores online will offer lossy encodings at 128kbps. These will most probably be indistinguishable to your ears, on a good decoder, and especially in a car, with ambient noise, etc. When you speak of lossless, though, higher bitrate does not mean higher quality. It's already lossless, so you'd be better off choosing a codec that is smaller, lossless, and playable. Or simply encoding in high quality MP3 with LAME. Use the search function or read the multiple stickies.
