Afterdawn.com has been given a preview release of Nero's AAC enocder.

Hmm, they say it beats LAME and Vorbis at encoding speeds.. i wonder what builds they're using

..
In any case, that's great, it should MUUUCH faster than AACEnc 2.15..

ACC+ very good at 32 Bit!!!!!!!!! oh my god!!! i got to try this out when it comes.... very good for sing it with video....

Does any body know how does AAC+ decoding resources compare to ogg?? ( assuming with such a good compression, high decoding resouce is needed ) Therefore, will ACC+ uses slight higher resources, double more, or around the same??

AAC+ reference decoder is 30x faster than real-time (with WAV I/O) on P4 2 GHz

FAAD2 is 40-45x real-time on the same computer

What CPU & Memory usage would decoding in Winamp for example need on a P4 2gig? I need the decoder to use as little memory as possible

With AAC+ files, you mean? So FAAD2 can already play them?

Or did you compare AAC+ files on a new reference decoder with normal AAC files on FAAD2? Only then iwod could use your values, because he asked for a comparison to OGG files, and I would guess the CPU load for playing AAC and/or newer OGG files (v1.0) is nearly the same, concerning the amount of stuttering on my old PC with Winamp 2.81.

No, FAAD2 couldn't play AAC+ files

I compared AAC+ decoder with AAC+ files and FAAD2 decoder with AAC files

I'm dying to archive my CD collection and I've been so impressed with 2.15 that I've decided to wait for the Nero plugin.

I know you probably can't say when it will be released since that is out of your control, but I just had to ask that to get it off my mind.

encode your audio cds in a lossless format and then transcode to NERO AAC as soon as it gets here, maybe we have a christmas present coming
