recently I'm trying to record the sound of a acoustic harpsichord, one NE5532 op-amp IC is used as a pre-amplifier (2 mics are used to obtain L R stereo), sounds fine but those $2 mics workly badly(compared to retail CD quality)
Anyone know about the problems of $ 2 mics? give me some suggestion for something better(especially the ECM mics)
I can't afford the gold diaphragm mics unless lower than USD 40, just want sth that gives moderate quality.
Can you be more specific about what product(s) you are using? Froogling to for ECM Microphone leads me to several sony products at $8 and up. Most seem to be specifically designed for recording speech, not music, as they are tie-clip mounted...
If that's the case, you need mics that have been optimized for musical recording, not speech recording. Or, more specifically, you need general purpose microphones, not speech-specialized microphones.
Then you can get more specific, e.g. omnidirectionals sound more natural, cardioids are directional for dealing with higher-noise environments, etc.
Edit: spelling.

You may have difficulty getting something acceptable. Can you borrow from anyone?
