Hi.. Gregory here...

Have been rippings CDAs to WAV using Audiograbber 1.81 (AG) .. and then encoding using RazorLame (RL) shell and LAME.exe 3.93.1

RL is pretty handy.. especially the way is shows the user while building the `switch string' and the VBR histogram. It does not handle the ID3 info that AG appends to the WAV file. This is what stopped me from using RL.

Am currently using AG `external' setting which launches a Win 2000 machine-window running LAME.exe which shows a DOS-like histogram { love-it }.

How can one get RL to populate the ID3 fields .. specifically from the WAV appended info provided by AG?

Comments welcome...

Using a tagger prog would be easiest. Monkey's Frontend has a id3 tagger based on the filename feature.

The functionality is similar to razorlame, at least for batch encodes.

Personally I use tag&rename but this is not freeware.

I've had success with LAMEr for ID3 tagging. I wanted to carry over tags when resampling files to lower bitrates for transfer to a portable player. It's a front-end like RazorLame, and seems to do everything just fine.

Check it out here: LAMEr Homepage

I also use a full-function tagger for heavy duty tasks; in my case it's MP3-Tag Sudio. It's shareware with ad nags (without being 'spyware') if you don't pay the license fee. Personally, I like to support the authors of programs that I find to be worthy, and this is one I think is worth every penny of the fee.

This is also a great prog for recording directly to mp3 from line-in. Messer is great but has much less Lame command line flexibility.

But the last time I used it it would not write an Id3 tag based on the filename. The wav files won't have a tag to transfer.

Lamer is really a great prog that gets little mention around here. huh.gif
