Hi
Is there an opensource or a freeware audio player that can change the speed (metronome) of music without changing the pitch (tone) of music? This player can be for windows and or linux.

I tried vlc, foobar2000, winamp, mpc, mplayer, but non of them seems capable of doing this. Maybe you know a plugin for this purpose. The only one I found is amazing slow downer which is not freeware.
Please tell me if you know.

There are several plugins for Winamp that do that. Not sure of the names of them off the top of my head though or which one is best.... maybe Pacemaker?
Remedial Sound
foo_dsp_soundtouch (a plugin for Foobar 0.9) may be able to do what you're looking for.

Here's the thread, I'd recommend reading the whole thing (it's only 2 p.) before diving in, apparently it needs .net 2.0 or vc8, whatever.

I haven't used this plugin since 0.8, though IIRC it can futz with the tempo, not sure if it can/does maintain the pitch though.

Thanks, Remedial Sound. foo_dsp_soundtouch works fine for my purpose. Now all I need a loop plugin for foobar2000.

Thanks, AnEnigma66. Pacemaker does work, too. With a little search I found another winamp plugin for tempo called Chronoton.
I also find a pretty good winamp plugin for looping the music called Loop Master Plugin.
From a musician's point of view chronoton and loop master plugins work great.

BestPractice will do this nicely. And it is freeware.

Thanks. It is very nice. I hope the author of this program will change the abandoned akrip library with a maintained library. I'm not sure if it is because of this library, but I get some kind of delay effect starting at playing speed 55 % for mp3 files. I don't get this annoying effect with winamp plugin chronoton. On the other hand, cd audio slowdown is okay with best practise and it can slow down much more then chronoton.

Windows Media Player 10's capable of what you need...
