Full Version: Jack Audio Connection Kit and Tools

Since JACK has been ported to OSX using CoreAudio, and PTLE runs on that platform, I've been wondering if it's possible, by adding VST support to Tools (I don't know how this is done but I'm told it's possible) and running the JACK VST to use non-Digidesign hardware on Pro Tools. Naturally this will still require some Digi hardware to be connected (an Mbox, presumably), but it would allow for multitrack recording using hardware not officially supported (i.e. much cheaper...). Hasanyone tried/had any luck with this. If so, is it possible and does it have any effect on latency? I don't have access to a Mac to look into it myself (and if I'm honest, the main reason for wanting to do this is just to see if it works), but I'd be interested if anyone else has tried.

That might be what you had in mind. As for the rest, I'm afraid I don't have a clue. It's an interesting idea and I'd be interested in hearing whether or not it's possible myself.
