I just installed and configured EAC to rip my mp3s following mostly the guides from hydrogen audio and coasterfactory.com. However, I've seen a lot of people recommend EAC 0.9b. I downloaded the "newest," 0.95 beta 4. Should I be finding 0.9b somewhere? Does hydrogen audio recommend one over the other if maximum quality music-ripping is the goal?

Also, does EAC not read dual-layer SACD/CDs? I have Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon on such a disc, and EAC doesn't seem to read it (i.e. it still says that there is no audio CD in the drive). Is there someway to force it to read the "normal" CD layer?

Does other software access to the Red Book layer of this SACD?
I ripped several hybrid SACD (RB layer only) with EAC without any problem. Nevertheless I have one or two SACD which weren't detected at all by the drive (it was a liteon one) itself. With another drive (LG) there were no problems.
Try with another ripping software first to see if EAC is guilty or not. If it doesn't work, use another drive (if you have a second one).

I don't have a second drive, but thanks. I'll check if its EAC (I'm pretty sure its not, however--the drive still spun up when I inserted the disc) and if it is the drive I'll see if I can't figure out a solution. Perhaps I'll coerce a roommate into ripping it for me
