Full Version: Copying mp3s?

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I'm OCD, I suppose.

I've been encoding a lot of my cd's. I use an iPod and iTunes, and really like having all of my music in a central iTunes folder--so I usually use the "consolidate library" option, which copies the files to the iTunes library. Then I can just delete the other copy. In the process of copying/consolidating, however, would it be possible to somehow hurt the sound quality of my mp3s?

Only due to bad hardware. There is no mp3-specific copying-faliure-penomena.

An MP3-encoded file works just like every other file type too: You can copy it elsewhere, you can toss it outta the window, you can clean the floor using it, you can wipe your a** with it, you can call it names, but it doesn't care. That stupid thing simply stays the same instead, hence its sound quality won't suffer at all, no matter how mean you treat it.

I did not know about the butt-wiping option. I'll have to give that some thought. cool.gif
