Full Version: Loading a cue sheet and tagging (flac)

Hi

Does anyone know of a way to load a cue sheet, and then tag all the files listed in the sheet with info from the sheet ? I've got a lot of EAC / FLAC ripped CDs with .cue sheets and their respective files kicking around on my PC.

I want to tag all the flac files so that slimserver can read them.

I could write something in perl to do this but I was wondering if there is another application I could use.

Thanks

Fandango
From your post I read it that you've ripped to seperate tracks (append gap to previous track) and non-compliant cue sheets, right?

Since loading the rip via that non-compliant cue sheet is hardly supported by any software (it was dropped in foobar2000 0.9 for example), the easiest way to add the right meta data to your individual files is to load them up directly and skip using the cue sheet. Then tag the files with meta data from freedb.org just like you did with the cue sheet in EAC. It's not worth the hassle to find an application that understands the cue sheets and will tag the seperate files with the meta data from the cue sheet, also writing a perl script isn't worth it unless you've made many edits to your cue sheets yourself. But still I'd tag the files via (use your favorite tagging software here) and a freedb query and then edit the tags again, this time directly.

How do I hook in freedb.org with flac files ? I presume there's some of checksumming going on ?

If I have a .flac file+.cue sheet for every cd that I extract, is there a way to get that cuesheet embedded in in the flac file?
Another question, my cue sheet didn't work until I went into notepad and changed ".wav" and "WAVE" to ".flac" and "FLAC". I know EAC doesn't do the encoding, but is there a way to do this by default?

I am also into this problem. Thanks to Syntetic Soul and his great advices I finally can create my files close to what (and where) I want them.

I am using EAC and Mareo and I get a catalogue structure under MP3 and the same cataloge structure under FLAC. And all ripped in the same operation.

I don't have one .flac image pr CD, only indidual tracks. AND - there is my question: unsure.gif
My different .flac-files are made for two things:
1. Playing from my Squeezebox biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
2. Backup in case i loose my CD's. Is it possible to create a cuesheet for the .flacfiles (one cuesheet pr cd) and recreate a exact copy of my CD? If so - how?

I've asked a similar question in another topic, but I didn't catch the correct answer. (Maybe I asked for it the wrong way)
Thanks again for patient treatment of a neewbie.. laugh.gif
