I have a d-link 524. I have two laptops and a PC. I have all three used to automatic config, which is pulled from the 524. So we all get dynamic ip addresses. I can ping all machines IP addresses. But if i try to access the windows share, by using \\ip-address\c$, it says it can't find it. I have firewall disabled. All machines have workgroup, with the same name. Any idea why?

A couple quick questions for you, Kwanbis.
First, have you enabled File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks on there? That'll stop you cold right there if you don't.
Second, try explicitly sharing a folder by right clicking on it, going to the sharing tab. You can check on this by going to \\<ip address>\ Any shared folder will be listed there.
Third, make sure that everyone has a user account on everyone else's machine. It may not work otherwise (I can't recall if MS permits anonymous guests)
Finally, don't use c$ unless you have to. It's an administrative share, i.e. it's only meant to be available to network admins. If you really really want to access it, you'll definitely have to have all the accessing users under the administrators group.
