Hello,

In the latest foobar2000, the ITUNORM comment field is merged with the Comment field on rewriting tags (and reading them)

I believe this is a bug, as reading the tags with mp3tag shows two distinct fields.

Could I have feedback on whether this issue is known, and if it will be fixed?

Thanks.

This is a normal ID3v2 comment field with the description ITUNNORM. Nothing "non-standard" about that.
Mp3tag just makes a new field name with the additon of the description to "comment". This allows a convenient handling of the comments and their descriptions.
But foobar does not support these descriptions (never has probably) and removes them on rewriting.

It shows like a multi value comment field, as foobar discards the description and reads it as two normal comment fields.

Hmmm, so does anyone know whether this change to the comment field from fb2k creates any problem for itunes when playing the file in itunes with soundcheck enabled?

If itunes is aware of the tag change, it will not find the soundcheck data and it will compute it again and add another comment field.
