Recently i started using foo_uie_explorer. I like it very much except for one thing: i noticed this plugin slows my foobar startup time pretty much.. its even more than winamp startup time blink.gif

Is there some way i can disable/enable this plugin with one-click? i.e.: i click on one button, and the explorer sidebar disappears, and when i startup foobar it is still disabled, and i can enable/disable whenever i want?

I seached but couldnt find anything on disable/enable a plugin with 1-click

Hmm, that's interesting, I'm a longtime user of the Explorer Tree and haven't had any problems with starup times (I'm using foobar 0.9.4 mine are usually around 0.3 sec, though I am on a P-Duo with 2 GB RAM). Could is possibly be another component that's the cause of the slow startup time?

I though of one way to create the "one click" solution you're looking for. First you have to create 2 separate Columns UI Layout Presets, one with the Explorer Tree Panel and one without. Then you could create a custom button for each layout preset to activate it on click. I'm pretty sure you'd need 2 buttons (one for each preset) as I don't think you can have 1 button that works as a toggle between the two.

Im using v0.9.4 and PC specs are: Core2Duo E6600 @ 2,4 Ghz | 2 GB RAM | WinXP SP2 Pro

Ill test this foobar setup on my laptop i think smile.gif

And startup time was <0,5 sec before i used explorer, and after it was >4 sec... And i also dont think my music library is that big. Its ~5 GB and thats not much for the average foobar user i think.

And i wont mind if there r 2 buttons. Im just a beginner, and if i want to know how to make a "button" would i have to go through general scripting tutorials or r there any "button makin tutorials out here"?

I tested this on my laptop and everything worked fine... startuptimes was <0,5 sec

Then i tried to change the music folder and i noticed that startup speed was normale again (~0,4 sec)...

So i think its a) a large music folder or b) some corrupt mp3 file

As i already said i dont think my music folder is that big (~5 GB with 500 music files, >95% VBR mp3). Could it be that there is a corrupt mp3 file here? And is there any way to correct this automatically?

The solution i now have is manually searching which mp3 files gives that lag, but i think that will cost me a lot of time..

I'm having the same issue, all my mp3s are on an external hard drive, and I use the explorer panel. I have around 130 Gigs of mp3s, and the startup time is slow too (a few seconds). I'm sure it comes from the explorer panel because i can actually here the hard drive (which is sitting next to me) being busy and scanning folders.

This button to activate the explorer panel would be great!
