Seems like a case of pluralis majestatis.

bsommer: Tagging compatibility of recent versions with iTunes are discussed in a few threads and shouldn't be hard to find (I hope). If nothing else helps, there's a switch for ID3v2 compatibility mode in advanced preferences (the one with the scary warning). Sorry for not being more specific, but I didn't have much time reccently to keep track of all these things in detail.

I use foobar and also itunes and have no problems/issues. The only adjustment I have to make is to use the ID3v2 compatiblility switch in the preferences/advanced within fb2k when I create mp3 files from within fb2k(lame). And even this is only to keep "boxes" from showing up at the end of artist, song, and album names within itunes listings. Otherwise, I notice no tagging problems. You can have soundcheck info from itunes coexisting peacefully with realplay gain info. They use different tag fields....

just look at foo_dop and you will be able to manage your files from foobar2000 smile.gif It seems easier than keeping two programs..

At the same time I thought foo_dop was severely limited.

I suggest either switching to Winamp (which supports iPods quite well) or, if you are really set on using iTunes, downloading Multi-Plugin from http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=38334

The benefit of using Multi-Plugin is that you can use foobar2000 passthru, which will make your files sound like they are playing in foobar2000. iTunes sounds horrendous by default.

One other option is to use MediaMonkey for sending your files to the ipod.

The essential feature for me are that it supports conversion from on the fly FLAC to MP3.
