I used to have my playback hotkeys as shift+ctrl+(z/x/c/v/B) for Winamp, but that doesn't work in Foobar2000. Neither does ctrl+alt. But shift+alt does work, as does shift+crtl+alt.
But none of the combinations work with the arrow keys (which I usually use for volume control). Has anyone had luck with these key combinations?
Peter has repeatedly stated that non-working or flaky hotkeys are a Windows problem. I don't doubt this (I'm convinced that Peter is always right), so I wonder, why does my Reproduction Control plugin for Winamp2 always work for any hotkeys I throw at it? I tried removing all of its hotkeys, rebooting, and giving them to Foobar2000, but that didn't work. After using at least a half-dozen keyboard shortcut programs for Winamp, I decided that only Reproduction Control was totally reliable, crash-proof, and functional, so making keyboard shortcuts work must be much harder than it sounds.
Since Peter says that flaky hotkeys are a Windows problem, I assume that Reproduction Control is using some sort of hack, or some ingenious programming, to make its keyboard shortcuts work. It seems well-behaved; I haven't noticed any problems yet, and I think it gives the foreground program priority if it has a conflicting keyboard shortcut. So I'm wondering, how messy is Reproduction Control's shortcut key implementation, and could it be implemented in Foobar2000?
