Simple n00bish question. I have onboard Realtek ALC850 sound and I'm just wondering whether the outputs are analogue or digital (ie, the 3.5mm green-ringed output). The reason I ask is I'm thinking of building a headphone amp that has analogue input and I need to know whether I'll need a DAC or not.

I am certain that output from such a system will be analogue.

Most probably analog, yes, being an onboard soundcard and mentioning that it's a jack connector.
Digital out is either coaxial or optical, and neither use the jack connector.
