Howdy all,
I'm after a Receiver to get for home.
It'll be my first one so I'll be a bit new to the whole thing.

My primary use to begin with is going to be wiring it up to my X-Box which is chipped and setup with XBMCv2 and so used as a Media Center.

I'm going to do an optical out to the receiver and also want to be sending the DVD player and Foxtel into it.

Later on as I get more familiar with it my requirements might change but thats the original needs.

I've been looking at the Onkyo ones at: www.shoponkyo.com and especially the refurbished ones as the price seems ideal to get maximum bang for buck.

Looking to spend no more than $450 at the VERY max and that's already pushing what I'd like to spend.
Prefer to be spending less if possible.

Was looking at this one just because it seems to be the dogs b*llocks! tongue.gif

but it is very very much at the very top end of what I'd like to spend.

Looking for feedback on it as a choice, maybe someone who knows alot about them could tell me if the others would do the job just as well and some of the features onthat one are things I would not be needing ever?

Alternately maybe someone could suggest a different one altogether?

Been reading this site and looking at their recommendations:

The Onkyo ones are the only ones in that listing that are really anywhere near the price I want to pay.

ALL feedback welcomed.

Thanks

As usual, it depends wink.gif

I have the Onkyo TX SR500, and it has everything I want (5.1, Dolby Digital, DTS). If you're looking into refurbished and don't mind some models from yesteryear, check out the TX SR503 on that same site, seems to be a pretty good deal.

Anyway, you might get more opinions over at the Home Theater Forums.

Cheers, Joey.
