seen reports of dx9 screwing up various systems in various ways, including people posting to ms's private beta newsgroups, so you may want to be wary until you actually have something that needs dx9, and see if anything develops...

Hm. Installed it, runs fine. biggrin.gif Win XP SP1.

I used this WebSetup, BTW: http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.asp...&displaylang=en
It determines which files need to be updated.
SK1
I downloaded it just when it was reported everywhere.
Had no problems, installation went smooth, all works fine for me, no weird stuff. But maybe i'll find something when i least expect it smile.gif.
Anyway, all those saying "it's not ready for prime time" and stuff, well, a "9.1" version or something will fix that so personally i don't mind. Hmm but Microsoft isn't exactly a company that updates fast when bad things are reported (to say the least smile.gif).

some of the reports were of "some games aren't working" without mentioning which games had stopped working sad.gif and one guy said that Windows Messenger stopped working on two seperate machines with different hardware both running winxp-sp1. I still haven't bothered installing it here, simply because I don't have any dx9 games anyways. (and neither do you wink.gif, hehe)

Hey, that's almost enough reason to install it! "Kill the Messenger," indeed. biggrin.gif

Well, the newest version runs with DX 9. But they will also release a version especially for DX 9 soon.

So far it's the best, least buggiest version I've installed. Finally, when using a registry cleaner it only removes one key versus a whole bunch of them as was the case with previous versions.
