Hi my first post...

So if I want to use lame logo/icon in my app, what is the recommended usage? Are there any restrictions?

Thanks

Fully acknowledge that you are using LAME, and give a link to our web site, www.mp3dev.org

I'd use the logo in its native res, and if you are attributing it to the LAME MP3 encoder there should not be any restrictions. Misuse would be trying to apply the logo to some other product, not to use it to refer to the LAME encoder within a product.

Where's the original .eps logo files??

I still have the original eps files on my HDD.

It's something that we should clarify on our website, but I would say that you can freely use it if it's related to Lame.

Even if the logo was heavily trademarked (think coca-cola), if you sell coca cola in a shop you are allowed to advertise in the window a coca cola logo, that would not be trademark infringement (as trademark law is to stop passing other goods, there is no confusion for the general public).

I don't think you have to grant the right to use a lame logo with lame, as that right is already there (unless the person who designed the lame logo, copyrighted that one artwork - you would be free to draw a lame logo from scratch).

I believe I just have the final versions, that Sam sent to Roberto (in which some colours were slightly different from the first that were released to provide consistency across all three logos).

It's been a while though so I may be wrong. smile.gif

Aren't they on the LAME website?

Edit: To confirm, it does seem that I have the final versions (original thread).

However, I would rather not become the source for everyone to download LAME EPS files! If they are not available on the LAME website can I suggest that they are made so? NB: My site is actually hosted on Sam's webspace, but I'm not sure he would enjoy the irony in the bandwidth overload... wink.gif

In the meantime feel free to go nutso and DownThemAll™.
