I'm using hhx3 for stereo files. What I've been even more impressed with is the new --optimize-mono switch, which makes a nice difference with my audiobook masters.

Oh boy, I didn't realize there might be more of those!
Maybe I can come up with some generic way of doing this that isn't too complicated. One of the problems is that there is no way to specify options for the self-extraction.

i think that self extration should just extract everything that has been included before. imho options would make things too complicated.
