may somebody tell me how to sort the tracks by their tracknumer and not by the trackname ?

you mean, Album and tracknumber, right? i would rename all my songs to tracknumber-artist-title
and sort by path

That seams a bit OTT, it's also alot easier to use sort -> sort by...

If you sort by tracknumber, wont it sort ALL 1's first before all 2's?

Here is a sort based on tags (not filenames) that someone else posted and I borrowed and tweaked. It sorts by artist (skipping "The"), album and tracknumber tags.

CODE

$if($strcmp($left(%album artist%,4),The ),$right(%album artist%,$sub($len(%album artist%),4))', 'The,%album artist%) - %date% - %album% - $num(%disc%,2) - $num(%tracknumber%,2)

Just copy & paste this into the custom sort dialog.
