Full Version: How to make FastEnc encode "Stereo" mp3

I've used Fastenc in MUSICMATCH 7.5, CEP Pro 2.0 and none of them can be switched to stereo.
I like the speed, about 20x, I think it's the fastest mp3 encoder!
All encoded files are joint-stereo even I unthicked the mid/side stereo switch
Any method to set registery or something to force it encode to pure stereo?

Edit : Is it true that the high quality of fastenc is even worse than the Fast quality?

One word LAME! biggrin.gif

Why are you thinking about using plain stereo? Joint stereo will provide you with much higher quality audio files. Also try using LAME if speed is a *major* factor in your decision to use Fastenc, try using LAME its at least faster than realtime depending on what CPU it is being runned on. It also provides you with much better quality than that of Fastenc, especially when you use the --alt-presets.

IMHO, yes (at least at 128kbps) - others may disagree though. I prefer FastEnc over Alternate (I can't stand the dropouts Alternate causes), but, of course, LAME with "--alt-preset (cbr) 128" is best of the lot. biggrin.gif (Again, people will disagree here.)

Have a look at ff123's site for interesting information on these codecs at 128kbps.

BTW: The "high quality version of FastEnc" is called "Alternate".
