Ok, just spent the last 4 days gaining control of all my digital music and converting stuff. I now realize I overlooked that the Rhapsody software I have been using to edit some of the tags is not writing the info to the file itself and I guess it is just part of the "Library". I obviously want my tags to stay with the file regardless where I move it/use it (ex. comments field). Really stupid these programs dont edit the actuall file.
FYI I use both Rhapsody and iTunes to purchase my music but use Rhapsody as my main management/library software since it can send the files to my Sandisk Sansa.
Which software is the best at handling MP3s and editting the file when I tag it with something in the software GUI ???

You may want to search this topic. I think it has come up before.

You will probly find most folks here are foobar users. I prefer
Mediamonkey myself, altho
MP3Toys has a lot of potential too.

Ditto with TrNSZ. Both programs combined do the job wonderfully for me. I use MP3Tag for basic tags and mass tagging, and Foobar for advanced tags and specific/custom ones.

Foobar is great for tagging it is great as it has many options, quite daunting at first though.

And MusicBrainz with the Picard tagger. Love the automatic tagging functionality

Another for mp3tag here
And another

for MediaMonkey. I use CDRipper and its tagging function along with the tagging in Media Monkey. You can use any of the free databases (CDDB and FreeDB) along with ALL Music Guide to get very accurate tags manually. Using AMG, I have found most of the album art as well.

Another vote for MediaMonkey!

And Tag&Rename which does exactly what I need.

Mp3tag - Universal Tag Editor
