Hello to all. I recently purchased 2 plextor dvd writters 755 A.The problem is that they cannot read my dvd - +rs and cd-rs.One of them sometimes does the other never and the odd thing is that my computer recognizes them both working properly.I haven't tried yet the cd given or any firmware
by the official site.Is plextools required also ? .I'm using winxp sp2 if this makes a difference.
A bit of help would be much appreciated.
Thanx in advance sad.gif ermm.gif

Just follow the installation instructions in the manual. I own a Plextor burner myself and have had nearly zero problems doing just that.

Actually i never looked in the manual assuming that you install the drive following the routine of any common drive but i ll check again. Thanx Again rolleyes.gif

Of course you install the drive like any other IDE unit - nothing special. PlexTools is not mandatory for Plextor drives to work. It's only a piece of software you can use for burning CDs or DVDs, for grabbing audio files, doing quality scans, etc.
If your unit doesn't recognize certain media, trying changing the manufacturer. If that doesn't help either, contact Plextor or give the hardware back to the reseller and request something else - maybe you received some defective units.

Some things sorted. I've changed my dvd streamer from win dvd to power dvd and dvd movies are recognized and fully played.I've also tried firmwares and the situation seems to be improved but still not everything is perfect.Genuine cds are fully recognized but data cds and dvds not genuine are still abit of a problem.Plus responce time is still a bit slow something that's not justifiable concerning my hardware (Conroe E 6600 and 2048 of ram)Might be the hard disc though it's a SATA 2. huh.gif ermm.gif

There are apparently a lot of people out there who think that following a manual means you're a noob or something. That's nonsense. Individual products and manufacturers have different peculiarities and it's always a good idea to have some concept of what anomalies you may face during installation.

Plextor is one of the few manufacturers out there that (AFAIK) still ship with top-notch printed documentation. No excuse for not even glancing at it first. RT*M!

But still the response time of the drives is very slow.Maybe a firmware update ? Any suggestions ?

Thanx in advance
