greetings,

i am very new to this lame standard. trying to get the itunes script to run, but it seems i need a degree in computer science and an unabridged acronym dictionary to get past the installation, if that's what it is i am doing.

anyhoo, i got the script to show up in itunes. the dialog box opens and i can start an import. however, i have no encoding options other than the standards preset. when i initiate the import, it spins at "gathering information"

i dragged the folder to my scripts folder in my user library.

i am not proficient in what it is you kids do. but i am a smart kid, willing to learn. i prefer a drag and drop lifestyle, but will commit to learning something if i could only find a step by step description of what it is i need to do. i am running an intel mac using 10.4.8

any help would be great, i am an old DAT taper and have an extensive vinyl collection that i wish to transfer to hard drive. your assistance will result in 1,000's of hours of love for everyone.

thanks in advance,

jay archibald

I'm not really sure what you are trying to do but it appears to be creating MP3's with Lame on a Mac. Am I right?

Isn't it something Max could do? Be sure to get the 'Unstable' version as the 'Stable' is rather old and ignore the 'update' window on startup as the update is not out yet. It uses LAME 3.97, the recommended version on this site.

thank you so much! this is exactly what i needed. max allows me to convert from flac straight to mp3, which mac flac did not allow. so not only is the conversion better, it's easier as well.
