Ok, so the default for plugins like quicksearch is to pop up a dialog box.

I can't seem to figure out how to get it into a toolbar permanently. I know this is pretty basic, but I can't seem to find where to start? Whether or not I have to code it? or it's just an easy option somewhere.

Would appreciate ANY help. =)

You need to annex a third party panel to your interface.

Such a component exists, it is called foo_uie_quicksearch. First, you need to install Columns UI interface and quicksearch which you can get in the wiki, under Columns UI section. Finally, add quicksearch to your layout (Preferences > Display > Columns UI > Layout tab > Context menu).

Have Columns UI Installed, and understand the layout tab. But quicksearch doesn't show up as an available option to add to the layout. Almost nothing does. Just the basics.

You sure you have foo_uie_quicksearch installed? If so, it should be located in [Context menu > Insert panel > Toolbars > Quick Search Toolbar].

Yeah. Listed under components... Not to mention I can use it perfectly from the main menu no problem. Works great. =)

It just listed in columns UI as a panel. I'll try updating both components.

Thanks a bunch eejadx... updated Columns and it fixed everything. Everything worked the way it was setup... but the version was back from April. =)
