Full Version: EAC to FLAC and MP3 at the same time?

I'm a newbie to ripping and encoding. I've been reading the document:

http://users.pandora.be/satcp/eac-qs-en.htm

It's quite good.

I'm using EAC V0.9 beta 4 and LAME 3.90.3. LAME is set up as the external program for compression. I've got this combo to rip and encode to MP3s. It's set to retain the WAV files. I'll be using MP3 192 Kbps VBR on my families various MP3 players. I'd also like to keep a FLAC for a future SqueezeBox or Sonos.

Is there a way to feed the ripped WAV to both LAME and FLAC as the same time from EAC?

If not, any suggestions?

Firstly, HA now recommends LAME 3.97 over 3.90.3.

Secondly, 192kbps VBR is not really a option. Do you mean --alt-preset standard? It may be worth having a look at the table on the LAME wiki page.

There are a few tools that you can use to rip to multiple formats in one go. You should do a search on this forum for REACT, MAREO and FLACAttack. I use REACT, but used to use a set of batch files to rip to lossless and lossy at the same time.

Take a look at the apps I mention, see which one suits you best, and then post app-specific questions to the app's official thread, or further backup questions to this thread.

Good luck.
