Full Version: autoflac and EAC set up?
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Lossless Audio Compression > FLAC

Hello everyone, I'm new to FLAC and this beautiful mine of information we have here. My query is about autoflac and EAC. I'm tying to set it up at them moment with the intention of ripping whole cds to single flac files, I gather I can use the image file to burn the a wav back to cd at a later stage. My first questions:

Firstly, will this single flac file representation of my album be playable as normal i.e. can I skip tracks on my not-yet-set-up squeezebox. I say this because although I can read from the 'properties' of flac that the tracks are all there as separates, mplayer only recognises the whole file as one peice of music - not letting me skip. I gather this is an issue of tagging, if you advise here, then be gentle - I've never devlved into music file compression and its metdata till today, not even mp3s.

Lastly, how do I uncheck the radio button that's making my computer shutdown evertyime I encode a flac.

Cheers

Hi geilwad,

If you're going to be ripping CDs as compressed album images (such as a single .flac file), you're going to want to have a cue sheet associated with each album image. A cue sheet is basically a text file that acts as a table of contents for the file/image, containing information on the time positions, titles, etc. of the individual tracks. It can exist as a separate .cue file or with some formats it can be embedded in the tags (I know this is the case with WavPack, not sure about flac).

I don't use flac myself, but this page on the HA wiki may also be of interest to you:
