Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is a preferablly small .exe out there thats portable and doesn't do any writing to the HDD (creating reg keys, folders, etc.) that can simply read flac tags and write them with mass renaming skills towards the tag.

Something like the godfather, with less crap (ew...libary?!) but same functionality, renaming, maybe freedb, etc....

thanks.love this site!!

Thats not really a viable option. IMHO foobar is meant more for music playback and as a last resort for something thats tagged wrong to use its tag functionality, which isn't that great.

10x overblown too, putting a whole music program just to tag. The point is to put this program in my download folder to constantly tag stuff incoming, would like to be portable becuause I have yet to find a good taging program.

I have to ask, do the extra features of foobar somehow make usage more difficult? As for bloat, you can delete unused components and it will take 2-3MB.

It is viable, maybe just not desirable.

I disagree about foobar's tagging functionality, which I think is superb. I use foobar as much to manage my files as to play them.

I had assumed that you wanted to use the app on a USB drive, in which case having a tagger and player combined may have been a good move.

10x overblown? Good luck finding what you want in ~350KiB... wink.gif

Edit: Sorry, just noticed that you only want FLAC tagging. Tag.exe can read and write FLAC tags, and rename files from tags. No freedb support though...

Yes, and uneeded for my purpose. I wish foobar was dummed down...just a little (look at mirandaim, foobar's counterpart towards instant messanging, as customizable, but MUCH easier to use and understand), but thats for a different debate.

That is where I am getting "bloat" from - not suggesting that foobar is bloat, but for my purpose it is.

Any other alts? and if not, what is a good definitive tagger, since it looks like I might have to actually install something.........

what would be even better is if WMPTSE would support editing tags..........

overblown in screen reestate, its useless with that little window, all those loads for playing music when I just want to tag.

OK noticed tag.exe......but commandline scares me...is there something with GUI?
