I am really wanting to customize my UI in Foobar 0.9, but am not having any luck. Insofar as what 3rd party addons I 'need.'

I have seen other people's UIs and liked them (and I am often a faster learner when dealing with something that is completed) and wanted to apply them to my Foobar... and again... a complete loss.

I would appreciate any and all help that the community can provide.

Commonly used components that dramatically increase your ability to customize your UI would probably be:

foo_ui_columns
foo_uie_trackinfo_mod
foo_uie_single_column_playlist

I am slowly understanding how the components work, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Now, is there a handy read me for the scripting language being used for the layouts and is it pretty much standardized across all the components?

i'd say the core components of the popular foobar layout nowadays are:

foo_ui_columns
foo_uie_single_column_playlist
foo_uie_tabs
foo_browser
foo_uie_trackinfo_mod
foo_uie_quicksearch
foo_uie_albumart
foo_run
foo_prettypop
foo_uie_lyrics
foo_playcount

those should give you enough options to for a lot of freedom with your layout.
