Hi,

For reasons outlined here,

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=51135

I use foobar's resampler (PPHS) to avoid sample rate switching during playback. My media library contains music recorded mostly at 44.1kHz, as you might expect, but I have some tracks at 48kHz, and others at rates lower than 44.1k.

My sound hardware supports clock rates of up to 96kHz, what would be the best target sampling rate to select? Using 96kHz, my 1.66GHz Athlon sits at 5% CPU usage, which seems a little high. Could I get away with a lower rate, such as 48kHz, or is that so close to 44.1kHz that I would be compromising the playback quality for the majority of my material?

Is there a theoretical reason to choose the highest possible target sampling rate?

Any advice you can offer is appreciated!

I see two issues here:
- to avoid sample rate switching during playback.
- 1.66GHz Athlon sits at 5% CPU usage, which seems a little high.

I see nothing wrong with the first option and I see something terribly wrong with the second.

But that's just MY opinion biggrin.gif

Edit: I did NOT check your link. You seem to have good reasons.
