Hiya.

I'm looking to buy some 5.1 speakers for my living room. I wonder if someone could offer me some advice as to which ones to choose?

They'll be connected to a PC which will be used mostly as a media centre for films, and I'll also wanna connect my games consoles so it'll need a digital input.

The main prob is, I'll mostly be using them for playing music, and most of the research/reviews I've found mostly talk about using them for movies.

I liked the look of the Logitech Z5500s, but then I read somewhere that the bass response was slow (can't find the link now). I also saw the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1s recommended, but they don't have a digital in. I'm thinking though that maybe I can just get a soundcard for the PC with digital in, but then would I be compromising quality?

I'd like to pay less than £250 if poss but will pay more if need be. I'm thinking that perhaps I should just sidestep the question and get something cheap for now (Creative T6100 5.1, £50 from Aria).

I'm rambling a bit - but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks.

I can recommend the Z5500. The speaker response is flat(that's good), the bass kicks in as much as you want it to and it comes at a decent price. It does have a THX certification, but mainly I enjoy it a lot for playing music, watching films and playing consoles. It has all the ins and outs and sounds good.

If you can, try it.

Take a look at Polk Audio. They have good quality at quite reasonable prices.
